Galzu was born somewhere between Led Zeppelin III and IV, and the timing shows. Raised on the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and thrown headlong into the rise of thrash, he started on violin at seven — until Metallica and Overkill made the guitar his primary string machine. Once a metalhead, always a metalhead: by the early 2000s he was touring with an obscure grindcore outfit.
But the golden age of hip-hop was impossible to refuse, and then techno and house came knocking. That polystylism has been the centre of everything since. He learned the DJ’s craft and lived it, moved into production, and recorded as IOTA — the album Construction of Reality still leaves traces on Discogs. After building his own sound system, Chicago footwork hit hard in 2011 and he founded Duck N’ Cover Records, which went on to release LPs by DJ Clent and Traxman, among others.
In 2026 he is a founding member and co-owner of the label Atmosferal. His debut album under his own name, Tiger Tiger Burning Bright, is out September 2026: eleven original tracks, polystylistic as ever, with a heavy nod to Drexciya, Mr. Fingers and the whole contemporary club sound coming out of Africa. On stage, he is to Anu Cato what Steve Stevens was to Billy Idol.
