Florence Lugemwa — DJ Flo Moon — is a DJ, producer, multi-instrumentalist and trumpet player from Kampala. In 2015 she co-founded the Homeland Brass Band, a grassroots music school where she teaches brass to more than two dozen kids whenever she isn’t touring. A fundraiser — completed with support from Roskilde Festival and Erika in Berlin — bought the school a house of its own, which she is now fitting out so the kids can board there.
She plays trumpet in HHY & The Kampala Unit, whose Lithium Blast (2020) and Turbo Meltdown (2025) came out on Nyege Nyege Tapes; she has played the Centre Pompidou, Triennale Milano and Unsound, sharpened her DJing in the lockdown years, and in 2020 went out live on Ugandan national TV in a Nyege Nyege takeover. Kampala Night Tape is her first release on Atmosferal.
Her debut solo album as FLO, Nakato, is out October 19, 2026 on Kampala’s Hakuna Kulala — thirteen tracks written and co-produced with Jonathan Saldanha.
